Camping Thalkirchen,is the largest and closest campsite to central Munich and Oktoberfest. It’s a municipal campsite, and has a bar, shop and various food and drink outlets. Over the Oktoberfest period the campsite will be very busy, with up to 4000 campers over the weekends. There are a number of permanent toilet and shower blocks at Camping Thalkirchen, however no toilet paper is provided in the toilets so you should bring your own. Also the showers cost EUR1 for five minutes of hot water, so you should make sure you have a shower token (which can be bought from the campsite reception) before you have a shower. You should also bring your own towel and toiletries etc.
Thalkirchen Campsite, is very accessible by public transport if you’re making your own way to the campsite. If you’re using public transport, just jump on the metro (U-Bahn 3 towards Fürstenried West) to Thalkirchen station. Once you arrive at Thalkirchen station you can either walk alongside the river for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, or alternatively jump on the number 135 bus which runs between camping Thalkirchen and Thalkirchen station and takes 2 or 3 minutes. Trust us it really is easy!
