Let Pillow take you to one of the best New Years celebrations in the world. The annual event in Princes Street is something everybody should experience at least once in their lifetime!

Hogmanay is the Scottish word for the last day of the year, and is synonymous with the New Years street celebration in central Edinburgh. The capital city of Scotland is a fantastic place to visit at any time of the year, however the cities New Years celebrations are regarded as some of the best in the world and the biggest in Europe. Hogmanay now attracts over 100,000 people and includes 4 days of processions, concerts and fireworks.

Our 4 day, 3 night tour allows you to experience the best Hogmanay has to offer, and we celebrate all day as we see in the New Zealand & Australian New Years. The tour price also includes a ticket to the official New Year events (includes live bands, fireworks and access to Princes Street at midnight). For the brave we also visit theLoony Dook mid winter swim on New Years Day!. This annual tradition involves locals (often in fancy dress) taking a dip in the freezing cold River Forth.

During the tour we travel from London to Edinburgh in an executive 49 seat coach, complete with toilers, DVD player and CD player to ensure We will stay at Smart City Hostels which is a new hostel located at 50 Blackfriars Street, which is in the heart of the action just off the famous Royal Mile. All rooms are clean dorm rooms and include a full Scottish breakfast each morning! The location of The Hanover is perfect as its surrounded by pubs, shops and restaurants and is ideal for the New Years Eve party on Princes Street.

Itinerary


  • Day 1: Friday 30 December 2011

    Meet at Embankment tube station at 7.30am for 7.45 sharp departure for the days drive to Edinburgh. After arrival in Edinburgh, we will check into your hostel and then visit a local bar to party into the night.


  • Day 2: Saturday 31 December 2011

    The Big Day!!! After breakfast we will make our way to a local pub to celebrate NZ at 11am and AUS at 1pm. The party continues all day until evening when its time to move to Princes Street with the other 100,000 people to enjoy the street entertainers, fun fair, dancers, food and drink stalls, live bands and of course, the fire works at midnight! Happy New Year and Welcome to 2012!!!


  • Day 3: Sunday 1 January 2012

    How are the hangovers? After breakfast we drive to the Loony Dook event, to watch (Or participate in if you are brave) the 500 people follow a pipe band to the shores of the Forth and then go for a mid day swim in its freezing waters! That evening we will all meet at a bar for our farewell party in Edinburgh.


  • Day 4: Monday 2 January 2012 (Bank Holiday)

    After breakfast we check out the hostel or hotel and board the coaches at 10.30am for the trip back to London. Estimated time back in London is 10.30pm.
