Get into the Christmas spirit this year by visiting Europe during the traditional Christmas market season. It’s always nice to visit European cities during the winter when the nights are cold and dark, but why not visit while their historic old buildings are decked out in Christmas lights, and their traditional old squares are busy with temporary markets selling everything from arts and crafts, Christmas decorations and mulled wine.
This amazing tour offers the chance to visit 3 Christmas markets, including the Lille market in France, which is renowned for its excellent arts and crafts and also has an extensive city centre shopping arcade for more modern shopping. We will also be staying in the heart of Lille in a city centre hotel, so you will be close to the action and can visit the market at any time. You will also be surrounded by many bars and resturants so you can party all night long! Each evening you can meet your tour leaders for drinks in Cafe Oz, so the group can get to know each other (drinks not included in the tour price).
On day two we visit the famous Brussels winter wonderland on the Place Sainte Catherine. This market is world renowned and attracts large numbers of international visitors who also enjoy the ice skating rink and wide variety of market stalls. You will also have time to visit the Grand’ Place which will be decorated in festive lights for the occasion.
On the final day, we will visit UNESCO world heritage town of Bruges. This beautiful medieval town is famous for its chocolate and lace shops which you can discover while meandering around its streets. There are two small Christmas markets selling a range of products but we can recommend buying a waffle or two (Belgian waffle dipped in warm chocolate – delicious!). After our visit we board the coach and head straight back to Calais for the crossing to Dover and back to London.
This tour is fantastic value for money considering the city centre accomodation, and offers a fantastic opportunity to do some Christmas shopping. With plenty of free time to party and meet new friends, its sure to be popular so book soon and start getting into the Christmas spirit!
