Is this a permanent campsite?
No, this is farm land being converted into a temporary campsite for the London 2012 Olympic game’s only. All showers, toilets, security etc will be bought in on a temporary basis
Can I park next to my tent?
No, As this is a temporary campsite, there are no permanent roads around the camping area, so if it rains we cant risk cars getting stuck and churning up the ground etc. The owners of the land on which the campsite will be are also running a temporary car park next to Theydon Bois station. You will be able to park in this car park for just £2 per day (if you’re also camping) and the campsite is next to the car park. There will also be a drop off point near the entrance to the campsite, so you will be able to load and unload your car etc.
What facilities are offered by the campsite?
For full information about the campsite, please visit their website by clicking here. However the campsite will provide luxury hot showers, luxury toilets, some food and bar outlets, a TV room, 24 hour security, secure storage lockers, CCTV and free WiFI.
How do I get from the campsite to the London Olympics.
Simply go to Theydon Bois London underground station, and catch a train to Stratford or central London. It takes approximately 20 minutes from Theydon Bois to Stratford on the central line, and costs approximately £8.50 for an off perk one day zones 1-6 travel card. However London Underground has a system called Oyster Cards, which we strongly recommend you purchase if you are staying in London for more than a day or two. We will include full information about the Oyster Card system in our arrival information which will be sent to your email 6 weeks before arrival.
Whats Theydon bois like.
it’s a beautiful, semi-rural Essex Village. It has a number of lovely pubs, shops and restaurants and you will feel you are nowhere near central London; however you are just 20 minutes away from Stratford station and the Olympic Park etc.
